Nestled in the heart of Lancashire, this charming city is bursting with life and offers something for everyone. For the most part the northern hospitality in the United Kingdom is second to none.

We personally love Preston as we are from the United Kingdom and always try out best to visit every now and then. As my partner is from Manchester there is always a little bit of a joke about the Roses rivalry but we wouldn’t personally bring that up when visiting.

Those Hidden or not so hidden Gems you need to visit

Every place has them, those places that you have to visit. And these made our list because they are just, so different in comparison to some other cities. We are always in love with the Georgian architecture and the general atmosphere of Preston.

As you delve deeper into the wonders of Preston the history is pretty fascinating.

We loved wandering through the quaint streets of Winckley Square, which feels almost out of place like a hidden oasis in the heart of the city.

This stunning Georgian square offers a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle, with its beautifully landscaped gardens and historical buildings. Keep your eyes peeled for the hidden sculptures and charming cafes tucked away in unexpected corners.

Here are a few of the things that will catch your eyes and hopefully grab your attention.

1. Harris Museum and Art Gallery: Explore the fascinating Harris Museum, where you can see the “Preston Guild Merchant” and other art and historical collections. It’s also a venue for various cultural events. You can find out more about it here.
2. Graffiti Art Tour: Preston has a thriving street art scene. Take a graffiti art tour to discover vibrant murals and urban artwork hidden throughout the city.

   There are numerous tour providers that you can reach out to with a relatively low price.

3. Preston Docks: Explore the former Preston Docks, a historic maritime area that has been transformed into a modern leisure and retail complex. You can take a stroll around the docks, visit the shopping center, or dine in one of the waterside restaurants.

   This is one of our favourite things to do as it is mostly free, and allows you understand some of the history a little better.

Every city has those places that you have got to eat at. Most of the time it is worth knowing these ahead of your trip and unless you are going for a food holiday, you usually only need to visit one.

We personally love eating out in Preston.
