🎓 Training Costs
To get started, you’ll need lessons from a certified school. Training is usually split into two main phases:
- Beginner Course (Elementary/Intro Level):
Around £700–£900 - Club Pilot Course (Intermediate Level):
Around £900–£1,100 - Some schools offer a combined full course for £1,500–£1,800
You’ll also need insurance or a membership with a governing body, usually about £100–£160.
🪂 Equipment Costs
Once you’re trained, you’ll want your own gear. Here’s what it usually costs brand-new:
- Wing (Paraglider): £2,500–£3,700
- Harness: £400–£800
- Reserve Parachute: £400–£700
- Helmet: £60–£150
- Variometer (optional flight instrument): £200–£600
💰 Total for new gear: Around £4,000–£5,500
You can cut that down significantly with second-hand gear — a full used setup in good condition might cost £2,000–£3,000.
💡 Other Ongoing Costs
- Club fees: £50–£150 per year
- Wing checks & reserve repack: £100–£150 annually
- Site access fees: Occasionally £5–£10 per use
